from the GGMG president...
With a Grateful Heart ...
It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as your 2007-2008
GGMG president. The opportunities and challenges that come
with leadership are exciting and rewarding. As my husband, Tim,
likes to say, “Volunteering makes your life bigger.”
I plan to stay actively involved next year, continuing to support
and expand the educational mission of GGMG by serving as the
Field Trip/Travel Coordinator. I also plan to work on the
symposium and plant sale committees and want to help develop
educational materials for Ask-A-Master Gardener.
Whether you are a long-time member or a current student, I hope
you, too, will continue to contribute your time and talents to a
few of the many GGMG projects that promote public
horticulture.
The Master Gardener program was founded, and continues to
thrive, on the goodwill and generous service of its volunteer
members. In your work for GGMG, I sincerely hope your life has
been blessed by the rewards of volunteering and the friendships
you have made within our group.
As this term of leadership draws to a close, I want to thank each
of you for the time you have given. From the Executive
Committee members and various project chairmen, to the
unnamed volunteers who have provided refreshments at
meetings, and the multitude of members who worked in the“trenches,” I acknowledge your efforts with a grateful heart.
I have no doubt, Greenville and surrounding areas are better –
and more beautiful – because of our organization.
However, the close of a term is not just a time to look back but
also a time to look forward. I’m eager for the new leadership and
fresh ideas that the next year will bring, and I’m excited to have
the personal opportunity to try other things.
I look forward to serving our community with you again next
year, because with your continued support, THE BEST IS YET
TO
BE for Greater Greenville and GGMG.
Wishing you all good things in the garden,
Marian
