Greater Greenville Master Gardeners are individuals who have taken an 18 week horticulture course, passed a comprehensive exam, and volunteered 40 hours of their time to community projects in Greenville County. Some of these projects include the Butterfly and Herb gardens at Roper Mountain Science Center, the Project Host Soup Kitchen Garden, an annual gardening symposium for the public, a Spring Plant Sale, answering the phones at the Extension Office, and many other projects.

Once individuals are certified, they can join the alumni association on a yearly basis to continue to serve their neighbors in the Greenville community. We have monthly business and educational meetings from September to May in the evening and during the daytime. Our mission is education and service. The alumni association is primarily responsible for administrating the MG class each year, overseering our community projects, and connecting people with gardening answers. Our group travels together to regional symposiums, botanical gardens and plant nurseries, tours each other's gardens and in general shares a lot of friendship and great times with each other.
