Greening Carolina: Creating the
Eco-Friendly Landscape

Join us for dynamic speakers, stimulating programs, wonderful banquets, lively entertainment, a fabulous garden tour, and a chance to meet friends–both old and new.

Come on Sunday afternoon to enjoy a reception at Furman University and a visit of Cliffs Cottage, the first environmentally sustainable Southern Living Showcase Home. Open to the public for one year, the house will be among the first residential homes in America to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. At the end of the public phase, the home will be retrofitted as the university’s Center for Sustainability.

The conference officially begins on Sunday evening with a banquet, entertainment, and a program from Rick Darke, America’s foremost authority on eco-friendly gardening, who will present “Livable Landscapes for a Changing Environment.”

Monday kicks-off with three educational concurrent sessions. Then, grab a box lunch on your way to the garden tour featuring four stunning private gardens and four community enrichment gardens maintained by the Greenville Master Gardeners.

Return to the hotel for an evening banquet, entertainment, and a program from Roger Swain from PBS’s award-winning program The Victory Garden, who will present “Planting Villages: How Gardens Make Good Neighbors.” If you’re still raring to go after dinner, finish the day with a “midnight” stroll to the suspension bridge at Falls Park.

Tuesday begins with three educational concurrent sessions. A live broadcast of Got Bugs, a popular South Carolina ETV radio show, will highlight lunch at the Hyatt.

End your stay in Greenville with an afternoon of discount shopping at local nursery centers, coupons and directions provided, or extend your visit and see a multitude of other attractions, such as the Greenville County Museum of Art and some of South Carolina’s finest state parks.

This conference is packed with useful information, ideas, and experiences.....all designed towards “Greening Carolina: Creating the Eco-Friendly Landscape.” We look forward to welcoming you to vibrant downtown Greenville!
